St. Bishop Nicholas the Wonderworker is a Saint highly venerated by both the Catholics and the Orthodox. St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra of Lycia, was famed as a Lord's Saint, healer and wonderworker. He had inherited a sizeable wealth which he donated to the needy. He gave alms in secret so that no-one could gratify him. St. Nicholas died in peace in a very old age, around 345. His relics stay in the city of Bari in Italy. Thousands of pilgrims from around the world arrive there to venerate his wonderworking myrrh-pouring relics. Nikola the God's man, as he is known in Russia, is considered the helper of sea farers, travelers, and all those addressing him with a prayer.
