Feast day January 25/ February 7 (or the next Sunday if this day falls on Sunday)

At the Bishops Synod of 1992, the commemoration day for the Synaxis of New Russian Martyrs and Confessors was set. At the Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 200 about 1,000 of Saints who had been prosecuted for Christ in the 20th century were canonized. Upon blessing of Metropolitan Juvenalius of Krutitsy and Kolomna, the icon of new Russian Martyrs and Confessors was painted. It presents the images of 128 most venerated newly canonized Saints. The upper part of the icon has the image of Crucifixion shining forth on all those who suffered for the faith. In the center of the icon, in front of the altar, there is an image of the Royal Passion Bearers, the family of Tsar Nicholas II. By the prayers of the New Martyrs and Confessors, let the Lord help us turn to repentance and recovery.
