Hieromartyr Vladimir Ambartsumov was canonized by the Archbishops' Synod of 2000 in the synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors. Vladimir Ambartsumov converted to Orthodoxy from the Lutheran denomination. In 1920-ies, he was a member and chairman of the Students' Christian Movement. In 1926, at the age of 33 he converted to Orthodoxy, and in 1927, was ordained as a priest. In this capacity, he served in the Prince Vladimir's church and later in St. Nicholas' church 'At the straw hut' in Moscow. On April 5, 1932, Fr. Vladimir was arrested, after that he worked as a civil servant. In 1937, he was arrested again and executed by the firing squad at Butovo ground. Hieromartyr Vladimir is especially loved and venerated in Armenia, people would pray to him when converting to Orthodoxy.
