Presentation of our Most Holy Theotokos and Virgin Lady to the Temple is one of the Twelve Great Feasts, dedicated to the event that took place in the early years of the Mother of God. When Virgin Mary was three, her Righteous parents St. Joachim and St. Anna took their Daughter from Nazareth to the Jerusalem Temple in order to keep the vows they had given before Her birth. She was met by the Archpriest Zachary, the father of John the forerunner. A stair of 15 steps lead to the Temple. With God's help, Maria managed them by herself. She stayed in the Temple until she turned 14, reading the Scriptures, praying and growing in Her love to God.

Troparion, Tone 4
Today is the prelude of God's good will/ and the proclamation of the salvation of men, the Virgin hath manifestly appeared in the temple of God and proclaimeth Christ unto all. To her let us cry out: Rejoice, O Fulfillment of Creator's dispensation!.
